Are you tired of letting excuses hold you back from living your healthiest, most energised life? You’re not alone — but the truth is, most of the things we tell ourselves are stories that can be rewritten.
Let’s tackle the most common excuses I hear in my coaching work — and more importantly, give you the tools to move past them.
The truth: You do — but it might be hiding in your routine.
Solution:
Take control of your week before it takes control of you. Look ahead and block out short, realistic time slots for movement and meal prep — just like you would for meetings or appointments.
Your health is a priority, not a luxury.
The truth: You don’t need hours — just consistency.
Solution:
Incorporate micro-habits: a 15-minute walk, a quick home workout, or a smarter food choice. Small, consistent actions lead to big results.
Better yet, get your family involved — go on walks together, cook meals as a team, or share your goals.
The truth: Poor planning makes it expensive — not the food itself.
Solution:
Plan meals ahead
Buy in bulk (especially dry goods and frozen foods)
Focus on seasonal produce and supermarket discounts
Cooking at home is nearly always cheaper — and far better for your health.
The truth: You just haven’t found the right recipes yet.
Solution:
Experiment with herbs, spices, roasting, and marinades. Healthy food can be absolutely delicious — think spicy roasted chickpeas, lemon-garlic salmon, or dark chocolate chia pudding.
Eating well should never feel like punishment. It should feel good.
The truth: You don’t have to.
Solution:
It’s not about cutting things out — it’s about learning moderation and mindfulness.
You can absolutely still enjoy chocolate or chips — but you’ll feel better when they’re part of your diet, not the base of it.
The truth: It’s never too late. Ever.
Solution:
Your body is always listening. Your health can improve at any age with small, consistent changes.
Start now, start small — and in a few months, you’ll be amazed at how far you’ve come.
The truth: You don’t need expensive solutions — you need a plan.
Solution:
There are plenty of ways to move your body for free: walking, free YouTube workouts, bodyweight circuits at home.
Start with what you can do. And if you're ready for expert guidance, a short-term investment in coaching can save you years of trial and error.
The truth: You don’t have to do it alone.
Solution:
This is exactly where coaching comes in. A professional (like me!) can help you clarify your goals, map out a realistic path, and offer consistent support.
The first step is reaching out. The rest? We figure it out together.
Excuses only have power if you let them.
You are not “lazy” or “unmotivated” — you’ve just been stuck in survival mode, telling yourself stories that aren’t true.
Let today be the day you take one small, powerful step toward the life you truly want.
